As the largest privately-owned refuse equipment manufacturer in North America, our influence extends across all 50 states and into international markets including Canada, Latin America, and Asia.
We are currently seeking a Facilities Operations Manager to play a pivotal role in our manufacturing operations. This individual will be accountable for the effective management and upkeep of our manufacturing facilities, which encompasses buildings, machinery, utilities, construction, and grounds. A proactive and hands-on approach to facility management is essential, with an emphasis on safety, compliance, and cost-efficient maintenance strategies.
Your Responsibilities:1. Facility Maintenance:- Supervise daily maintenance and repair tasks across all facilities, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Establish and execute preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend the life of equipment and systems.
- Develop, implement, and oversee a maintenance work order program.
- Collaborate with internal maintenance personnel and external contractors to ensure prompt and quality maintenance services.
- Conduct regular safety inspections to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations regarding building codes, equipment, tools, fire safety, and emergency preparedness.
- Partner with the EHS team to coordinate inspections, audits, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure staff are current on required training.
- Perform regular audits of manufacturing systems to verify compliance with best practices and implement sustainable corrective measures.
- Plan and execute facility maintenance projects during scheduled downtime as necessary.
- Formulate contingency plans for critical equipment maintenance or unexpected downtime to minimize operational disruptions.
- Work with the EHS manager to facilitate necessary employee training or certification programs.
- Coordinate with the EHS manager to address equipment non-compliance identified during audits and inspections.
- Oversee and manage utility consumption, including electricity, water, gas, and fuel, to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Identify and implement energy conservation and sustainability initiatives to lessen environmental impact.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering leadership on facility layouts and space utilization to maximize workflow and operational efficiency.
- Plan and manage projects related to facility upgrades, renovations, or expansions.
- Prepare cost justifications for capital expenditures as needed.
- Develop and oversee the facilities budget, including forecasting, cost analysis, and expense tracking.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives to lower operating expenses while maintaining high-quality facilities and services.
- Utilize the established Purchase Order process as required by Purchasing.
- Collaborate with the EHS team to create and implement emergency response plans and procedures to ensure readiness for potential emergencies.
- Coordinate with local authorities and emergency services to facilitate effective emergency response efforts.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, including contract negotiations, performance monitoring, and compliance with service level agreements.
- Ensure vendor adherence to company safety standards while operating at any company-owned facility.
- Work alongside the EHS manager to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations concerning hazardous materials and OSHA requirements.
- A minimum of ten years of experience in facilities management or a related field, preferably within a manufacturing context.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of effectively managing and motivating facility staff and contractors.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with facility management software and computer-aided facility management (CAFM) systems.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Facility Management Professional (FMP) are preferred.
