Position Overview:

The Estimator is responsible for developing and coordinating comprehensive estimates for large-scale and intricate projects as outlined in client specifications. This role involves providing complete conceptual and total bid pricing.

Qualifications and Experience Required:
  • Preferred: Associate's degree
  • Background in construction with proficiency in interpreting blueprints and specifications
  • Proficient in standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and familiarity with digital takeoff programs such as On-Screen Takeoff
  • Experience with social media platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Facebook)
  • Strong multitasking abilities
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to meet strict deadlines
  • Professional appearance is essential
  • Must maintain a courteous and positive demeanor towards all clients and colleagues
  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods (up to 10 hours daily)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze construction documents to gain insight into the project scope
  • Communicate with general contractors, architects, vendors, and team members through various channels
  • Utilize computer software for onscreen takeoffs of the project scope
  • Input takeoff data into the computer system
  • Source materials and vendors for custom or non-stock items
  • Gather vendor pricing for outsourced materials and labor
  • Solicit bids from subcontractors
  • Compile backup documentation in the job folder (e.g., vendor pricing, correspondence)
  • Conduct cost analysis by recalculating expenses related to materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead
  • Make estimates where predetermined standards are unavailable
  • Notify supervisors of any discrepancies or omissions in quoted items or databases
  • Collaborate with Senior Estimators and Sales to review takeoffs, plans, and final estimates
  • Assist in preparing the final estimate with the project team
  • Complete overall project estimates using the in-house ERP system
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer to the project team once projects are awarded
  • Participate in networking events and occasional travel as directed

Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in data entry and retrieval from computer systems
  • Ability to operate modern office equipment
  • Competence in using a phone system
  • Ability to drive a vehicle for minimal travel

  • Effective verbal communication skills


Work Environment:
  • This position operates in a professional office setting, utilizing standard office equipment
  • While performing job duties, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations may occur
