Role Summary

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will operate with a high degree of autonomy, applying advanced Project Controls methodologies, Quantity Surveying expertise, and Cost Management techniques to large-scale EPC projects. This role necessitates a solid background in Risk and Change Management processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize comprehensive knowledge of Project Controls principles.
  • Conduct quantity estimations based on Approved for Construction drawings, reflecting actual site conditions.
  • Collaborate with site construction teams and engineering departments to validate and certify completed work for subcontractor payments.
  • Review project scope, Preamble, drawings, and specifications to ensure alignment with requirements.
  • Ensure quantity take-offs comply with company standards and project specifications, facilitating effective monitoring.
  • Track field design modifications in response to site conditions and manage subcontractor payment processes.
  • Oversee material quantities received and utilized on-site to support weekly progress assessments.
  • Evaluate Site Instructions against planned costs, identifying discrepancies and finalizing approvals through the Cost Control process.
  • Assess Change Work Orders and Variations in accordance with contractual agreements.
  • Monitor subcontractor payment flows against budgeted quantities and actual progress.
  • Review progress measurements submitted by subcontractor Quantity Surveyors and generate comprehensive reports for project accounting.
  • Manage project performance concerning budgeted costs, demand forecasts, and timelines to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Analyze feasibility reports to identify potential project bottlenecks and recommend solutions for timely completion.
  • Conduct joint site surveys to verify progress measurements against finalized weekly percentages.
  • Perform rate analysis, certification, and payment approvals.
  • Prepare deviation and variation statements for final contractor payments.
  • Implement processes with regular reviews and suggestions for continuous improvement.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of advanced construction work package management principles.
  • Engage in the Risk Management process effectively.
  • Compile monthly reports and support overall project status updates based on reporting timelines.
  • Analyze data sets to provide insights and correlations.
  • Prepare cost forecasts and analyses for each project discipline based on actual performance data and trends.
  • Maintain equilibrium among project control systems (Cost/Schedule/Progress) from the initial estimate through to project completion.
  • Support the Project Risk Management and Change Management processes.
  • Contribute to the collection of data for Closeout Reports.
  • Perform additional related duties as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Advanced Technical Education (B.Sc/M.Sc. or equivalent) or relevant site experience.
  • 6-10 years of pertinent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in the EPC or construction sector.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently while also being an effective team player.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent coordination skills to gather information from various project stakeholders, with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
