Position Overview:

The Estimator is accountable for generating and/or overseeing the creation of comprehensive estimates for significant and intricate projects as dictated by client specifications. This role entails delivering complete conceptual and total bid pricing.



Qualifications and Experience Required:
Preferred Associate's degree
Background in construction with proficiency in interpreting blueprints and specifications
Competent computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, and ideally On-Screen Takeoff or similar digital material takeoff software)
Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Salesforce or Facebook)
Capability to manage multiple tasks
Keen attention to detail and ability to adhere to strict deadlines
Professional appearance is essential
Must exhibit a courteous and positive attitude towards both internal and external stakeholders (in-person and via phone)
Capacity to remain seated for extended periods (up to 10 hours daily)

Key Responsibilities:
Analyze construction documents to grasp the necessary scope of work
Communicate with general contractors, architects, suppliers, and team members through phone, email, or in-person as needed
Employ computer takeoff software to execute onscreen takeoffs of the required scope of work.
Enter takeoffs into the computer system
Source materials and suppliers for custom/non-stock items.
Acquire vendor pricing for outsourced materials and/or labor.
Solicit bids from subcontractors.
Utilize job folders to compile supporting documentation (vendor pricing, emails)
Conduct cost analysis using computer systems by recalculating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs incurred during installation
When standard estimates are unavailable, create an estimate
Notify immediate supervisor of any discrepancies or omissions in quoted items or computer databases
Collaborate with Senior Estimators/Peers/Sales to review takeoffs, plans, scope of work, and final estimates
Work alongside Senior Estimators/Peers/Sales to finalize estimates
Complete overall project estimates using the in-house ERP system
Meet with the project team to transfer all knowledge once projects are awarded
Participate in networking events and light travel as requested by the supervisor

Technical/Motor Skills:
Ability to enter and retrieve data from computers.
Ability to operate modern office machinery.
Ability to operate phone systems.
Ability to drive a motor vehicle for minimal travel.

Sensory Requirements:
Ability to converse in a calm and friendly manner.
Ability to communicate effectively on the phone.

Working Environment:
This position operates in a professional office setting. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines are routinely used.

While performing the duties of this role, the team member may be frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations.
