Position Overview: The Estimator is tasked with the preparation and coordination of comprehensive estimates for significant and intricate projects as dictated by client specifications. This role involves delivering complete conceptual and total bid pricing.

Required Qualifications:
  • Preferred: Associate's degree
  • Construction experience with proficiency in interpreting blueprints and specifications
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, and ideally On-Screen Takeoff or similar digital material takeoff software)
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Salesforce or Facebook)
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to adhere to strict deadlines
  • Professional appearance is essential
  • Must exhibit a courteous and positive attitude towards all clients and colleagues, both in person and via phone
  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods (up to 10 hours daily)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze construction documents to gain a thorough understanding of the project scope
  • Communicate with general contractors, architects, suppliers, and team members through various channels
  • Employ computer takeoff software to execute onscreen takeoffs of the required project scope
  • Input takeoff data into the computer system
  • Source materials and suppliers for custom or non-stock items
  • Gather vendor pricing for outsourced materials and labor
  • Solicit bids from subcontractors
  • Utilize the job folder to compile supporting documentation (vendor pricing, correspondence)
  • Conduct cost analysis by recalculating expenses related to materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead
  • When no predetermined standards exist, create estimates
  • Notify the immediate supervisor of any discrepancies or omissions in quoted items or the database
  • Collaborate with Senior Estimators, peers, and sales teams to review takeoffs, plans, scope, and final estimates
  • Assist in preparing the final estimate alongside Senior Estimators and peers
  • Complete overall project estimates using the in-house ERP system
  • Engage with the project team to transfer all relevant knowledge once projects are awarded
  • Participate in networking events and occasional travel as directed by the supervisor
Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods
  • Engage in standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks
  • Lift objects weighing over 50 pounds
  • Vision capabilities must include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
Essential Skills:
  • Proficient in presenting information to management and groups
  • Ability to perform under pressure with interruptions and deadlines
  • Skilled in directing, prioritizing, and organizing personal workload
  • Capable of processing verbal information and entering it into the computer system
  • Adept at following complex instructions and mastering basic skills
  • Logical thinking in adhering to procedures and instructions
Work Environment:
  • This position operates within a professional office setting, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers and phones
  • Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations may occur while performing job duties
