Role Summary

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will operate with minimal oversight, taking charge of the application of Planning and Progress Measurement methodologies, Quantity Surveying, and Cost Control protocols for large-scale EPC projects. This position requires a solid background in Risk and Change management practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize comprehensive knowledge of Project Controls principles.
  • Estimate quantities based on Approved for Construction drawings, reflecting actual onsite changes.
  • Collaborate with site construction teams and engineering departments to verify and certify completed work for subcontractor payments.
  • Review project scope, specifications, and drawings.
  • Ensure quantity take-offs comply with company standards and project specifications, and that scheduled scopes are accessible for monitoring.
  • Track field design modifications and process subcontractor payment requests.
  • Oversee material quantities received and utilized on-site to ensure accurate weekly progress reporting.
  • Evaluate Site Instructions against planned costs, identifying discrepancies and finalizing approvals through the cost control process.
  • Assess change orders and variations in accordance with contractual agreements.
  • Monitor subcontractor payment flows against budgeted quantities and actual progress.
  • Review progress measurements submitted by subcontractor Quantity Surveyors and generate reports for the company’s main system.
  • Ensure projects adhere to budgeted costs, demand forecasts, and timelines for timely execution.
  • Analyze feasibility reports to identify project bottlenecks for on-time completion.
  • Conduct joint site surveys to verify progress measurements against finalized weekly percentages.
  • Perform rate analysis, certification, and payment approvals.
  • Prepare deviation and variation statements for final contractor payments.
  • Implement processes with regular reviews and recommendations for business efficiency improvements.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of advanced construction work package management principles.
  • Engage in the Risk management process.
  • Compile monthly reports and support overall project status updates based on reporting schedules.
  • Analyze data sets to provide additional insights and correlations.
  • Prepare cost forecasts and analyses for each project discipline, informed by actual data and trends.
  • Ensure a balance between project control systems (Cost/Schedule/Progress) from the initial estimate through to project completion.
  • Support Project Risk management and change management processes.
  • Assist in the collection of data for Closeout Reports.
  • Perform any other related duties as necessary.

Essential Qualifications

  • Advanced Technical Education (B. Sc/M.Sc. or equivalent) or relevant site experience.
  • 6-10 years of pertinent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in the EPC or construction sector.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work autonomously while also being a collaborative team member.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent coordination skills to gather information from various project stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, monitor progress, and meet deadlines.
