Position Summary:

The Mechanical Estimator plays a crucial role in delivering precise cost assessments for various projects, aiding in the bidding and pricing strategies for our products and services.

Primary Duties:
  • Calculate comprehensive project expenses, encompassing materials, labor, equipment, tools, and transportation.
  • Investigate material options, labor rates, and permit expenses pertinent to projects.
  • Gather, categorize, and evaluate historical cost data.
  • Examine blueprints and architectural plans to ascertain project requirements while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Identify necessary project resources based on cost evaluations and financial limitations.
  • Prepare bidding documents, request subcontractor estimates, perform take-offs, and engage in pre-bid site assessments.
  • Identify and vet qualified subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Scrutinize quotes for precision and adherence to specifications.
  • Assist in the preparation of client prequalification documentation.
  • Review subcontractor bids for thoroughness.
  • Support the estimation of Change Orders, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Contribute to budget formulation and procurement processes.
Qualifications:
  • Over 10 years of experience in the mechanical industry.
  • Strong mathematical skills for accurate estimating.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with Estimating Models.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • Must be able to pass a hair follicle drug screening.
  • A TWIC card may be required for certain job sites.
  • Must be physically capable of independently climbing stairs.
  • Work environment is primarily indoors, with occasional site visits, both indoors and outdoors.
