Overview: The Development Department is in search of a dedicated Grants Manager to become an integral part of their team. This role will focus on overseeing the entire grant administration process.

Position: Grants Manager

Role Summary: The Grants Manager at The New Jewish Home will operate under the guidance of the Senior Director of Institutional Relations & Program Development. This position entails comprehensive responsibility for the grant administration cycle, including systems, processes, controls, recordkeeping, and compliance. The Grants Manager will identify and research potential grant opportunities that align with the organization's objectives; prepare and submit detailed and persuasive grant proposals; manage all aspects of grant contracting and reporting; oversee grant expenditures; maintain thorough grant records; and provide regular updates on grant activities.


The Grants Manager will collaborate with various departments, including Development, Finance, Legal, and Program teams, to ensure that grant deliverables meet organizational goals and that expenditures align with the approved budget. This role may also involve working closely with team members responsible for invoicing, reconciliation, and financial reporting for all grants.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft grant proposals, develop associated budgets, and submit applications.
  • Ensure all necessary contract documents and reports are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Guarantee that grants are executed in accordance with both organizational needs and funder requirements.
  • Create and maintain tracking systems to monitor outcomes, ensuring compliance with funding standards and regulations.
  • Communicate grant requirements, including deliverables and reporting deadlines, effectively.
  • Train staff on grant management, compliance, and reporting responsibilities.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all grant awards, including specifications, requirements, milestones, and compliance/reporting deadlines.
  • Monitor budget versus actual grant spending, addressing any discrepancies and developing action plans as necessary.
  • Establish standardized systems and processes to enhance effective grant administration, utilizing appropriate technology solutions.
  • Work in collaboration with the Senior Director of Institutional Giving & Program Development and the Accounting Supervisor to maintain the program's cost allocation plan.
  • Foster and maintain productive relationships with funders.
  • Adhere to federal, state, and organizational policies and regulations.
  • Manage access to all funder portals and websites.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of grant writing, contracting, and management best practices.
  • Experience in managing grant budgets effectively.
  • Resourceful and proactive work ethic.
  • Project management capabilities with a focus on detail, accuracy, and quality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Arts or Science.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a Development environment, specifically with government grants.
