Position Overview:
Title: Lead Financial Grants Specialist (Hybrid Remote)

The Lead Financial Grants Specialist operates under general oversight, handling the financial complexities associated with grants, ensuring adherence to regulations, and promoting effective collaboration with program teams. Responsibilities include preparing comprehensive financial reports for timely submission to funding sources, engaging in budget formulation, and conducting in-depth financial analyses to identify discrepancies. The role also involves maintaining precise documentation, facilitating audit procedures, and keeping abreast of accounting standards and grant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the financial management of grants and funding from both public and private foundations, ensuring compliance with grant stipulations and regulations.
  2. Develop grant proposal budgets, providing financial insights and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  3. Collaborate with the AVP of Finance, Director of Institutional Giving, and Program Directors to create grant budgets and monitor spending throughout the grant lifecycle.
  4. Conduct regular financial assessments to pinpoint variances and address potential budgetary issues.
  5. Prepare and submit accurate financial reports to funding sources, detailing fund usage and performance against budget.
  6. Maintain organized grant documentation, including financial statements, invoices, and correspondence with funding sources.
  7. Coordinate with internal and external auditors during grant-related audits, ensuring compliance with audit and grant requirements.
  8. Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and grant regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
  9. Manage additional administrative tasks and special projects as needed.
  10. Assist the Budget and Reporting Supervisor in developing and preparing the annual calendar and fiscal year budgets for related entities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a minimum of three years of experience in grant accounting or similar financial roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Uniform Guidance, and grant compliance.
  • Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
