Senior Commercial Lending Officer

Position Overview:
The Senior Commercial Lending Officer is tasked with overseeing commercial banking operations for enterprises generating up to $60 million in annual revenue.
Recognized as a key figure within the loan officer team, this role is accountable for achieving exceptional business development outcomes, effective portfolio management, and fostering professional relationships.
This position also serves as a mentor to junior team members.Key Responsibilities:
Drives business development by securing new commercial banking clients through strategic outreach and relationship-building efforts; nurtures connections with influential stakeholders such as accountants, attorneys, community leaders, and various professional organizations; participates in networking events, charitable activities, and corporate gatherings to cultivate new relationships.
Oversees portfolio management and underwriting by collaborating with clients on account-related matters; partners with team members to streamline the credit application process, conduct site evaluations, liaise with underwriters for decision-making, and perform annual assessments of the assigned portfolio; identifies, evaluates, structures, and documents commercial credit transactions to optimize profitability while managing risk; monitors credit quality within assigned portfolios and takes necessary actions.
This position focuses on managing portfolios with the most significant and complex clients and accounts.Collaborates closely with other departments to address client service challenges and cross-sell additional banking products; manages high-level executive accounts and loan requests to ensure exceptional service delivery.
As a senior team member, this role represents the bank at civic and community events to enhance visibility and drive business development.
Acts as a mentor to credit analysts, portfolio managers, and less experienced loan officers, providing guidance, learning opportunities, and support for relationship-building and training as required.Engages in ongoing training to enhance sales and presentation skills, as well as knowledge in commercial banking, SBA, treasury management, and other relevant areas.
Effectively manages service providers and vendors; establishes strategic relationships with service providers, sets clear expectations, develops performance metrics, and evaluates vendor performance while providing constructive feedback.
Ensures compliance with all relevant banking laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and related anti-money laundering statutes, as well as federal consumer protection laws and regulations.

Qualifications and Skills:
A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in commercial lending and sales, demonstrating a proven track record of achieving progressive goals, developing commercial business, managing portfolios, and effective collaboration across departments is essential.
A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, statistics, business, or a related field is necessary; a Master's degree is preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office applications [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required. Familiarity with EasyLender, Cleartouch, OnBase, CreditQuest, and various government and investor software/web portals is preferred. Experience with CRM software is also preferred.
Prior experience in financial services or banking is advantageous.
Completion of, active pursuit of, or willingness to begin progressive OBL/ABA certification courses related to the position is required.
