Job Summary

The Senior Commercial Banking Specialist is a senior member of the loan officer team responsible for commercial banking for companies up to $60 million in revenue. This role requires a high level of business development results, portfolio management, collaboration, and professional representation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Business Development: Acquire new commercial banking business by utilizing effective calling techniques to achieve corporate growth. Maintain and develop relationships with centers of influence, including accountants, attorneys, community leaders, professional, and/or social organizations. Attend networking, charity, and corporate functions for prospecting and establishment of relationships.
  2. Portfolio Management: Manage portfolios and underwriting by coordinating with clients on accounts and other issues related to the commercial relationships. Work with commercial team members to facilitate credit application process, perform site visits, work with underwriter to obtain decisions, and work with underwriting to perform annual reviews of assigned portfolio. Identify, evaluate, structure, and document commercial credit transactions to ensure maximum profitability with reasonable risk. Monitor credit quality within assigned portfolios and take action as appropriate.
  3. Client Service: Work closely with other departments to handle client service issues and to cross-sell other bank products. Handle high-level executive account and loan requests to reinforce extraordinary service levels.
  4. Community Representation: Professionally represent the bank in civic and community functions to further enhance the bank's visibility while increasing business development.
  5. Mentorship: Act as a mentor to credit analysts, portfolio managers, and less experienced loan officers. Offer advice, present learning opportunities, support relationship building, and assist with training as needed.
  6. Professional Development: Attend training to continually improve sales and presentation skills, commercial, SBA, treasury management knowledge, and other applicable banking knowledge.
  7. Vendor Management: Manage service providers and vendors effectively. Structure relationships with service providers in a strategic manner. Set expectations, develop performance metrics, measure vendor performance, provide feedback, and hold accountable.
  8. Compliance: Comply with all applicable banking laws and regulations, including, but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and related anti-money laundering statutes, and federal consumer protection legislation and regulations.
Requirements
  1. 7-10 years of commercial lending/sales experience and a demonstrated track record of success in meeting progressive plan goals, developing commercial business, portfolio management, and effective cross-departmental collaboration is required.
  2. Thorough understanding of commercial lending laws, regulations, and guidelines is required.
  3. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, statistics, business, or other related field is required; Master's degree is preferred.
  4. Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required. EasyLender, Cleartouch, OnBase, CreditQuest, various government and investor software/web portals is preferred. CRM software is preferred.
  5. Experience in financial services or banking is preferred.
  6. Completed, actively pursuing, or willing to begin progressive OBL/ABA certification courses related to position, required.
