Principal Commercial Loan Consultant

The Senior Commercial Loan Officer plays a pivotal role in managing commercial banking services for enterprises with revenues up to $60 million. As a key figure within the loan officer team, this position is tasked with achieving exceptional business development outcomes, overseeing portfolio management, and fostering collaboration while representing the bank with professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Business Development:**
Drive the acquisition of new commercial banking clients through effective outreach strategies, while nurturing relationships with influential stakeholders such as accountants, attorneys, and community leaders. Participate in networking events and corporate functions to enhance relationship-building efforts.
2. **Portfolio Management:**
Oversee client accounts and address issues related to commercial relationships. Collaborate with team members to streamline the credit application process, conduct site evaluations, and work closely with underwriters to secure decisions and perform annual portfolio reviews. Assess, structure, and document commercial credit transactions to optimize profitability while managing risk.
3. **Client Service Excellence:**
Work in tandem with various departments to resolve client service matters and promote cross-selling of additional bank products. Handle high-level executive accounts and loan requests, ensuring superior service delivery.
4. **Mentorship and Training:**
Act as a mentor to junior team members, including credit analysts and less experienced loan officers. Provide guidance, facilitate learning opportunities, and support relationship-building initiatives.
5. **Continuous Improvement:**
Engage in ongoing training to enhance skills in sales, presentations, and banking knowledge, including commercial, SBA, and treasury management.
6. **Vendor Management:**
Effectively manage relationships with service providers, establishing performance metrics and holding vendors accountable for their contributions.
7. **Regulatory Compliance:**
Ensure adherence to all relevant banking laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act and consumer protection legislation.
Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications:
1. **Experience:**
7-10 years of proven experience in commercial lending and sales, demonstrating a successful track record in achieving sales goals and managing commercial portfolios.
2. **Education:**
A Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
3. **Technical Skills:**
Proficiency in MS Office applications and familiarity with banking software is essential.
4. **Certifications:**
Active pursuit or completion of relevant OBL/ABA certification courses is required.
Competencies:
Resilience, Communication, Service Orientation, Decisiveness, Organizational Skills, and a Drive for Results are essential for success in this role.
Work Environment:
This position is primarily office-based, requiring regular physical activity, including lifting and moving items up to 25 pounds. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, with standard business hours.
