Job Title: Commercial Credit Underwriter II

Position Overview:

The Commercial Credit Underwriter II plays a crucial role in assessing the creditworthiness of individuals and businesses seeking commercial financing. This position involves collaboration within an underwriting team in the credit division, adhering to established policies and procedures governing the credit evaluation process.

Basic Qualifications:

Education/Training: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required. Specialized training in bank lending is essential.

Skills:

  • Intermediate skills and experience in commercial real estate underwriting
  • Strong proficiency in English (reading, writing, grammar) and mathematics
  • Ability to manage a moderate workload with minimal supervision
  • Meticulous attention to detail and capability to work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Well-developed financial analysis abilities
  • Proficient in PC applications, including Microsoft Office, with a willingness to learn specific financial software
  • Comprehensive understanding of current relevant regulations

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in commercial credit underwriting with a focus on commercial real estate, or
  • A minimum of five years of banking or related commercial real estate finance experience
  • Experience with SBA lending is preferred but not mandatory

General Responsibilities:

  • Conduct credit assessments to determine the creditworthiness of individuals and businesses
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures for credit analysis
  • Communicate promptly with relevant personnel
  • Maintain accurate records and generate required reports

Essential Duties:

  • Receive applications and associated financial data for prospective and current borrowing accounts
  • Analyze financial data and assess the short- and long-term viability of individuals or businesses
  • Ensure all credit analysis activities comply with the prescribed lending policies
  • Prepare necessary cash flow analyses and generate financial ratios
  • Document all financial analysis activities comprehensively
  • Provide recommendations regarding loan approvals or denials
  • Review customer records and suggest repayment options
  • Examine customer files to identify and select delinquent accounts for further evaluation and action
  • Compile written analyses for review and presentation
  • Engage with credit associations and other business representatives to exchange credit information
  • Consult with clients to verify financial and credit transactions
  • Manage and process multiple credit requests of varying complexities
  • Review, update, and assess existing loan customer relationships
