Job Overview

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Technical Sales Support Specialist plays a crucial role in developing and executing strategies for technical sales assistance, training, and warranty management. This position serves as a vital resource for both customers and team members regarding optimal equipment practices. The specialist will design and implement technical and NATE-related training programs aimed at enhancing the knowledge of customers and employees alike. Additionally, this role will support account managers in securing sales opportunities and will establish guidelines related to warranty and unit exchange policies to minimize warranty transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop guidelines and tools to meet the increasing demand for technical sales support. Provide troubleshooting assistance for customers and employees, and offer on-site field support for complex issues without engaging in product modifications or repairs.
  2. Create and implement a NATE training program for the organization, alongside technical training for customers and employees to ensure a solid understanding of air conditioning fundamentals and installation protocols for HVAC equipment.
  3. Assist Branch Managers and Account Managers in closing sales with larger equipment dealers by providing technical training as part of in-house services to support customer retention.
  4. Support the warranty process and unit exchanges to enhance customer service and reduce warranty-related transactions.
  5. Conduct training sessions and service schools, tracking and reporting attendance for both customer and employee participants.
  6. Help assigned locations become leading NATE testing centers across the country.
  7. Collaborate with the Purchasing and Marketing teams to optimize product offerings, including superseded products and related items to drive sales growth.
  8. Stay informed on industry trends and technical advancements that impact target markets and products through various internal and external resources.
  9. Build and maintain relationships with vendor partners and key customers.
  10. Participate in relevant meetings, providing insights on customer and product data, strategies, and opportunities.
  11. Ensure a consistent company image is maintained throughout all training and sales presentations.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Internal Collaboration:

Engage in regular consultations with the store support team regarding training needs and industry trends. Collaborate frequently with Sales and Branch Management, as well as various departments including marketing, purchasing, IT, and human resources to achieve both long-term and short-term objectives.

External Collaboration:

Communicate and collaborate with Market/Branch Management, customers, vendors, and industry consultants.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC field service.
  2. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  3. Proficient in problem-solving, data collection, and analytical reasoning.
  4. Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of activities under varying conditions.
  5. Strong decision-making skills, utilizing both analytical and creative approaches.
  6. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  7. Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal, is required.

Work Environment:

This role typically involves working in an office environment, with frequent visits to branch facilities and customer operations. The position requires standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods, as well as the ability to climb stairs and ladders. Visual acuity is necessary for reading and producing reports, and auditory skills are required for managing a high volume of telephone and personal communications. Moderate travel may be required.
