Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Department Registered Nurse to join our team at St. David's Medical Center. As a critical care nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency department environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients upon admission to the emergency department and provide comprehensive nursing care
  • Perform and document patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history
  • Appraise and document patient and family educational and psychosocial needs and make appropriate referrals
  • Administer and document medications as prescribed by physicians
  • Report changes in patient condition to supervisor and physician
  • Provide comprehensive inter-shift reports to ensure seamless patient care
Requirements
  • 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department
  • Experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute care setting OR capstone rotation in St. David's Healthcare facilities – preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) from accredited Nursing program
  • Current enrollment in Alternate Entry Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) program
  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) OR Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy within 6 months
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) OR Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENCP) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy required within 24 months of hire
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy required within 24 months of hire
  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy required within 12 months of hire

St. David's Medical Center is a full-service hospital located in central Austin, Texas. This 300+ bed facility features a 24-hour emergency department, the regions largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and the internationally-renowned Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute and St. David's Neuroscience & Spine Institute.

The full scope of services provided at St. David's Medical Center includes cancer care, heart and vascular care, imaging services, joint replacement and orthopedics, women's services, complex surgical services, and a Bariatric Surgery Center. The facility is home to a 60+ bed rehabilitation hospital providing both inpatient and outpatient comprehensive care.
