Job Responsibilities and Qualifications

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in Neonatal Care, your responsibilities will include planning, implementing, and assessing nursing care for assigned patients. You will collaborate with Labor and Delivery nurses, Obstetricians, and Pediatric/Neonatology teams to create individualized care plans that adhere to hospital policies.

Your duties will involve:

  • Conducting admission assessments and discharge planning, ensuring documentation is completed within two hours of patient admission.
  • Initiating critical pathways upon admission to guide nursing care, updating as necessary based on interventions and documentation.
  • Identifying and reporting changes in patient conditions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Documenting resolutions of patient issues and communicating any unresolved matters.
  • Administering and documenting medications accurately.
  • Evaluating care plans to determine necessary modifications.
  • Assessing the effectiveness of patient education and revising teaching plans as needed.
Required Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Preferred experience in an acute care setting.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License, with Texas license to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is required.
