As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department (ED), your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting thorough assessments of patients upon their arrival to determine their complaints and the severity of their conditions.
  • Documenting patient evaluations and care provided.
  • Identifying and addressing the educational and psychosocial needs of patients and their families, making necessary referrals.
  • Administering medications and documenting their effects.
  • Communicating patient needs to the appropriate healthcare team members.
  • Providing detailed inter-shift reports to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in an Emergency Department setting.
  • Preferred experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute care environment or through a capstone rotation in affiliated healthcare facilities.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred; an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program is required.
  • Current enrollment in an Alternate Entry Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) program is acceptable.
  • A valid State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or a Compact Registered Nursing License is necessary.
  • Compliance with St. David's Healthcare policies regarding certifications within specified timeframes.
