Responsibilities and QualificationsAs a Trauma Care Registered Nurse (RN), your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough assessments and developing comprehensive care plans for assigned patients.
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to refine and implement care strategies.
- Monitoring patients' physical conditions and addressing their emotional and social needs.
- Performing regular patient assessments and reassessments.
- Conducting triage assessments to gather rapid data related to medical and traumatic emergencies.
- Evaluating injury causation and ensuring any signs of neglect or abuse are reported to the appropriate authorities.
- Formulating care plans with expected outcomes in collaboration with team members.
- Accurately verifying, documenting, and administering medications.
- Providing health education to patients and families, along with proper documentation.
- Assessing patients' progress towards achieving outcomes and documenting the effectiveness of interventions.
Experience and Education Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Trauma Care Registered Nurse (RN).
- Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution and/or current enrollment in an Alternate Entry Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program or higher.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License (Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire if Compact License).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENCP) certification is preferred.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification is preferred.
