Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Surgical Services Registered Nurse (RN), you will be tasked with conducting patient assessments, formulating a care plan, and executing and evaluating care.

As a member of the interdisciplinary care team, you will collaborate with other professionals to ensure the safe and precise delivery of care.

  • Conduct age-appropriate assessments of patients upon arrival to the surgical suite.
  • Assist with patient care during anesthesia induction and/or prepare the patient for local anesthesia.
  • Establish and maintain a sterile and secure surgical environment.
  • Perform accurate surgical preparations.
  • Document and report patient care accurately.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all surgical specialties and equipment.
  • Engage in staff and self-development.
  • Assist in orienting new employees.
  • Complete annual departmental competencies.

Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in the Surgical Services environment. Hospital experience is highly preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – preferred.

License and Certifications:

  • Current State Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification – per SDH policy.
