Job Responsibilities and Qualifications

As a Critical Care Registered Nurse, you will be tasked with planning, executing, assessing, and documenting nursing care for patients in the emergency department. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating patients to determine their medical needs and the urgency of their conditions.
  • Conducting and recording thorough patient assessments.
  • Identifying and documenting educational and psychosocial needs of patients and their families, making appropriate referrals as necessary.
  • Communicating changes in patient conditions to the supervising physician and healthcare team.
  • Administering medications and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Collaborating with hospital staff to address patient needs.
  • Providing detailed inter-shift reports to ensure continuity of care.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience in an emergency department setting.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
  • Current enrollment in an Alternate Entry Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program is acceptable.
  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas or a Compact RN license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per hospital policy.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required within six months of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification required within 24 months of hire.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification required within 24 months of hire.
  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required within 12 months of hire.
