Job Overview

Position Title: Production Operations Supervisor

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE:

The main objective of this position is to oversee a team of five to six staff members, ensuring the efficient production, shipping, and receiving of goods and materials. Additionally, you will engage in the manufacturing of finished products in alignment with the production timeline and directives from the location manager. This role also involves maintaining cleanliness and organization in your areas of responsibility while ensuring that scale and warehouse operations are executed properly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership Duties:

  • Delegate and organize tasks among team members
  • Ensure timely processing of trucks through shipping and receiving
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately and promptly
  • Participate actively in daily operations to maintain workflow
  • Oversee cleanliness and organization of production and warehouse areas
  • Uphold the aesthetic standards of the facility, both internally and externally

Scale House Management:

  • Manage all incoming loads (either dumping or parking on Dolly Pad - DP)
    1. Probe, test, and weigh all loads parked on the Dolly Pad - DP
    2. Retain samples from all loads, ensuring proper labeling
    3. Maintain cleanliness of the scale area after each load
    4. Input test results into the computer system
  • Manage all outgoing loads (live or preloaded)
    1. Weigh, verify product type, quantity, and destination
    2. Collect samples and ensure compliance with customer documentation requirements
    3. Complete and file all paperwork in a timely manner

Warehouse Management:

  • Assist in the daily production schedule across all areas, ensuring efficient processing:
    • Bag and package products as needed
  • Safeguard products post-packaging (proper stacking, shrink wrapping, labeling)
  • Monitor team members and equipment, reporting issues to the Supervisor
  • Inspect both clean and dirty bins for potential issues
  • Check production equipment regularly throughout the shift
  • Additional tasks may include lawn maintenance, snow removal, trailer movement, screen changes, and general facility upkeep as assigned

General Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and communicate equipment breakdowns to the Maintenance team and Supervisor
  • Address minor repairs, such as replacing drive belts and patching holes
  • Utilize all team members effectively, holding everyone accountable for their responsibilities while seeking assistance when necessary
  • Prioritize safety for employees and food products, followed by production tasks and truck loading/unloading

REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • A valid driver's license
  • Experience in employee management
  • Mechanical skills
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
  • Capacity to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • Physical ability to:
    1. Lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
    2. Stand for extended periods
    3. Work in dusty environments
    4. Open traps on trailer trucks
    5. Work in confined spaces
    6. Work at significant heights
