Position Purpose

The primary responsibility of this role is to coordinate and execute maintenance strategies for Anchor Ingredients facilities, ensuring the performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency of our equipment and processes.

Key Responsibilities

Plant and Equipment Maintenance:

  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on conveyors, legs, PD blowers, milling machinery, and industrial vehicles.
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery to identify malfunctions.
  • Estimate costs for repairs.
  • Design, implement, and oversee a maintenance program.
  • Document the type and cost of maintenance or repair work performed.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and determine corrective actions, utilizing repair manuals, parts catalogs, and blueprints as necessary.
  • Repair or replace defective parts using hand and power tools, and reassemble equipment as needed.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure machinery operates smoothly and building systems function efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Manager and Director of Plant Operations to achieve efficiency and safety objectives, including preventive maintenance schedules on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

Plant Operations:

  • Support margin improvement and cost-saving initiatives by identifying opportunities for material reduction and optimization.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to emphasize the significance of reliability and preventive maintenance.
  • Investigate and resolve production interruptions promptly.
  • Partner with the Plant Maintenance Engineer and General Managers to ensure that:
    • Machinery is set up correctly and adheres to standards.
    • Machinery is used properly to prevent breakdowns or damage.
    • Machinery is well-maintained.
    • Machinery is safe for operation.
    • Breakdowns are addressed swiftly.

Safety:

  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Manager, Plant Maintenance Engineer, and General Manager to monitor and ensure adherence to the Company’s Safety Program.
  • Support and comply with the Company’s Safety Program.
  • Proactively identify potential safety hazards and implement corrective action plans.
  • Assist in evaluating incidents to help eliminate root causes.

Quality Assurance:

  • Work with General Managers, the Director of Plant Operations, and the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure that products meet established quality standards and quickly address any deviations to minimize rejects.

General Responsibilities:

Engage in project work or tasks outside of this Job Description as directed by the Plant Maintenance Engineer and General Managers. All personnel at Anchor Ingredients are expected to adhere to the Company’s policies regarding Safety, Hygiene, and housekeeping.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of mechanical or maintenance experience or an Associate degree in a related field.
  • General knowledge of food quality standards and safety procedures.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Proven ability to lead through change.
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and accommodate changes.
  • Welding skills are a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to machinery and moving parts, airborne particles including grain dust, and hazardous materials or fumes, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The employee may also encounter adverse weather conditions, extended seasonal hours, high precarious places, and confined spaces. The noise level in some work environments may require hearing protection. Inside the office, the employee is frequently exposed to typical office conditions with a noise level that is usually quiet to moderate.

While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods, use hands or fingers to reach or handle objects, and communicate verbally. The employee is also required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally, the employee must lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. All vision abilities are necessary for close-up work. Occasionally, the employee must be able to tolerate extended seasonal hours and maintain alertness to meet deadlines.
