State of Massachusetts - Chief Executive Officer of Police Training
The Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) operates as a state agency under the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS).
The MPTC is tasked with establishing training standards for all law enforcement personnel certified by the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST) and is responsible for the development, delivery, and maintenance of training records for over 23,000 police officers and associated staff in the Commonwealth.
The Chief Executive Officer of the MPTC oversees the comprehensive management of the agency, which includes budgetary oversight, operational management, personnel administration, facility maintenance, and training program implementation.
This role reports directly to the Secretary of Public Safety and Security through the Undersecretary for Law Enforcement at EOPSS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the daily operations of the agency.
- Supervise the agency's full-time staff and contracted personnel.
- Collaborate with DCAMM to oversee MPTC facilities.
- Prepare budgets and engage in financial planning.
- Participate in monthly Committee meetings and sub-committee discussions.
- Work in partnership with the POST Commission on joint initiatives.
- Foster constructive and professional relationships with stakeholders.
- Oversee the creation and execution of training programs.
- Ensure the MPTC addresses the training requirements of law enforcement personnel.
- Engage in policy development and legislative efforts with EOPSS and the Committee.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
- Previous experience as a Chief Executive Officer or senior manager in law enforcement or educational settings.
- Experience in developing and implementing training programs.
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system in Massachusetts.
- Exceptional communication abilities.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse workforce.
Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Candidates must possess at least (A) eight (8) years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience, of which (B) at least five (5) years must have been in a managerial role.
