About Project FIND: Project FIND is dedicated to enhancing the lives of low- and moderate-income seniors, including those experiencing homelessness, by providing essential services and support. We operate three supportive housing facilities and four senior centers, serving a diverse community of over 3,600 individuals. Our mission is to empower seniors to live independently and engage actively in their communities.
Position Summary: The Grants Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity of the organization, focusing on accounting practices and compliance with audits. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position collaborates closely with the controller to oversee grant management and budgetary functions, ensuring timely submissions of funder vouchers and providing support to program directors and department heads for effective budget oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
Grants and Contracts Management- Manage the financial aspects of grants, ensuring adherence to regulations and fostering collaboration with program staff.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports for submission to grantors, participate in budget development, and conduct financial analyses to identify variances.
- Maintain thorough documentation and facilitate audit processes while staying updated on accounting standards and grant regulations.
- Oversee the financial lifecycle of grants, ensuring compliance from inception to completion.
- Assist in the preparation of grant proposal budgets, aligning financial input with organizational objectives.
- Work with the Director of Finance and Program Leadership to develop grant budgets and monitor expenditures throughout the grant period.
- Conduct regular financial analyses to identify and address potential budgetary concerns.
- Prepare and submit accurate financial reports or vouchers to grantors, detailing fund utilization and performance metrics.
- Organize grant documentation, including financial reports and correspondence with grantors.
- Coordinate with auditors and grantors during audit processes.
- Ensure compliance with audit and grant requirements and stay informed about changes in accounting standards.
- Assist with administrative functions and special projects as needed.
- Support the fiscal team in developing annual reports and fiscal year budgets.
- Assist the controller with contract registration and budget submissions to ensure timely reimbursements.
- Manage staff salary allocation processes and review variance reports for accuracy.
- Analyze monthly revenue and expense reports to ensure accuracy and address any discrepancies.
- Provide support across various functions in the Finance Department, including payroll and bank reconciliation.
- Maintain organized records of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Assist with monthly closeouts and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferred) with 3-5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in grant accounting, ideally within a nonprofit setting.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and grant compliance.
- Experience with federal, state, and local government grants.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to convey financial concepts to non-financial staff.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong organizational skills.
- Advanced spreadsheet skills.
Project FIND participates in E-Verify, confirming employment authorization through an electronic database maintained by the Social Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security.
