Compensation: $21-$24.52/hourly


Position Overview: Are you enthusiastic about nurturing young minds? Do you aspire to lead a classroom and share your passions with students? If so, the REEF program at Washington Yu Ying is looking for dynamic, engaging, and creative individuals eager to make a meaningful difference in children's lives.

Role Summary: As a Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for guiding a classroom of approximately 15 students in our after school enrichment program. You will have the opportunity to design and execute your own lesson plans with the support of Team Leads and Managers, all while working under the supervision of the Director of REEF and REEF Operations Managers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and assist in the management of before and aftercare (REEF) programs for designated classrooms.
  • Administer daily operations of REEF activities.
  • Collaborate with REEF Operations Managers and staff to ensure that aftercare classes and activities align with the school's mission and curriculum.
  • Ensure student safety during aftercare activities on campus and during field trips.
  • Engage students fully in REEF classes each period.
  • Supervise transitions between classes and group activities.
  • Address and manage student behavior issues within REEF programs.
  • Document incidents and communicate with parents as necessary.
  • Implement the school-wide student discipline policy consistently.
  • Distribute snacks, maintain snack records, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all areas and materials used during REEF programs.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of REEF programs and staff development.
  • Prepare necessary materials for classes each day.
  • Assist REEF Managers in creating new classes and developing guidelines.
  • Work with school administration to uphold the quality, security, and safety of REEF programs.
  • Support other REEF operational efforts as needed.
  • Participate in various projects and tasks related to the overall functioning of a public charter school and its extracurricular programs.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of relevant coursework and experience preferred.
  • Strongly preferred experience in before-and-aftercare program management.
  • Basic technology skills required, including proficiency in Google Suite, especially Gmail; Mac experience preferred.
  • Self-motivated with effective time management skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong motivational abilities.
  • Warm, friendly, and energetic demeanor; capable of building rapport with children and staff.
