Reports to: REEF Operations Manager

Compensation: $21-$24.52/hourly

Position Overview: Are you enthusiastic about engaging with children? Have you considered guiding your own class and sharing your passions? If so, the REEF program at Washington Yu Ying is looking for dynamic, open-minded individuals eager to positively influence children's lives.

Role Summary: As a Lead Teacher, you will oversee a classroom of approximately 15 students in our before and after school enrichment program. You will have the opportunity to create and implement your own lesson plans with the support of Team Leads and Managers. This role operates under the guidance of the Director of REEF and REEF Operations Managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise before and aftercare (REEF) programs for assigned classrooms.
  • Manage daily program administration for REEF activities.
  • Collaborate with REEF Operations Managers to ensure activities align with the school's mission and curriculum.
  • Ensure student safety during aftercare activities and on field trips.
  • Engage students fully in REEF classes each period.
  • Oversee transitions between classes and group play.
  • Address student behavior issues effectively.
  • Document incidents and communicate with parents promptly.
  • Implement school-wide discipline policies consistently.
  • Serve snacks, maintain records, and adhere to compliance regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of materials used during REEF programs.
  • Contribute to the development of REEF programs and staff.
  • Prepare necessary materials for classes daily.
  • Assist in creating new classes and guidelines with REEF Managers.
  • Work with school administration to uphold quality and safety standards in REEF programs.
  • Support additional REEF and school operational efforts as needed.
  • Participate in various projects related to the operation of a public charter school and its extracurricular programs.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of relevant coursework and experience preferred.
  • Strong preference for experience in before-and-aftercare program administration.
  • Basic technology skills required, particularly with Google Suite; Mac experience preferred.
  • Self-motivated with effective time management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong motivational capabilities.
  • Warm, friendly, and energetic demeanor; ability to connect well with children and staff.

Terms of Employment: 10 Months

  • Working Environment: In-school. This role is based on-site and will expand to include another campus, facilitating interaction with students, parents, and staff.
