Reports to: REEF Operations Manager

Compensation: $21-$24.52/hourly


Position Overview: Are you enthusiastic about nurturing young minds? Do you aspire to lead a classroom and share your passions with students? If so, the REEF program at Washington Yu Ying is looking for dynamic, high-energy individuals committed to positively influencing children's lives.

Role Summary: As a Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for guiding a classroom of approximately 15 students in our after school enrichment program. You will have the opportunity to create and implement engaging lesson plans with support from Team Leads and Managers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and assist in the management of before and aftercare programs for designated classrooms.
  • Administer daily operations of REEF activities.
  • Collaborate with REEF Operations Managers and staff to ensure that aftercare classes and activities align with the school's mission and curriculum.
  • Ensure student safety during aftercare activities and on field trips.
  • Engage students actively in REEF classes.
  • Supervise transitions between classes and group activities.
  • Address and manage student behavior issues effectively.
  • Document incidents and communicate with parents promptly.
  • Implement school-wide discipline policies consistently.
  • Serve snacks, track snack counts, and adhere to compliance regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of materials used during REEF programs.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of REEF programs and staff development.
  • Prepare necessary materials for classes daily.
  • Assist in the creation of new classes and guidelines.
  • Work with school administration to uphold quality and safety standards in REEF programs.
  • Support other REEF operations as needed.
  • Participate in various projects related to the overall functioning of the public charter school and its extracurricular offerings.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of relevant coursework and experience preferred.
  • Strongly preferred experience in before-and-aftercare program management.
  • Basic technology skills required, including proficiency in Google Suite; Mac experience is a plus.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Warm, friendly demeanor with the ability to connect with children and staff.
