Position Overview

The After School Program Coordinator will oversee and execute the daily functions of an after-school initiative at Bancroft Elementary School. This program will encompass academic support, enrichment activities, family involvement, community service initiatives, and workshops focused on positive youth development. Additionally, the Coordinator will contribute to the planning and execution of a summer program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement an engaging, academically oriented after-school program.
  • Create a supportive academic atmosphere that fosters student learning.
  • Track and assess student academic performance.
  • Develop project-based curricula for enrichment activities.
  • Organize and facilitate 3-5 field trips throughout the year.
  • Collaborate with school staff and community partners to coordinate family engagement events.
  • Supervise a team of 2-3 individuals, including AmeriCorps members and volunteers.
  • Manage the youth intake and enrollment process, ensuring compliance with documentation requirements.
  • Conduct data collection and maintain records in the integrated data management system.
  • Assist youth and their families with referrals for essential services.
  • Act as the liaison between LAYC and school administrators.
  • Work collaboratively with other site supervisors to support youth across various educational programs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; an associate degree or higher is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in youth development.
  • A strong passion for education and youth development.

Skills Required

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
  • Exceptional facilitation and training abilities.
  • Knowledge of programming and engagement strategies.
  • Strong initiative and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

This position primarily involves sedentary work, requiring the ability to communicate effectively and manage small objects. Local travel may be necessary.
