Position Summary
The Field Engineering Specialist will perform a range of essential engineering tasks under the guidance of senior engineers, focusing on the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of electronic systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
  • Conduct research and review technical literature to assist senior engineers in acquiring necessary technical information, while staying updated on approved standards, codes, and procedures relevant to the engineering field.
  • Execute engineering tasks that are diverse and may present moderate challenges.
  • Plan and implement successive engineering steps, addressing technical issues using established practices and methodologies, including tolerance studies and design calculations.
  • Support projects with limited scope or segments of larger projects, following detailed instructions regarding the intent and scope of documentation.
  • Generate sections of design specifications for more complex projects or complete specifications for simpler projects.
  • Utilize computer-assisted testing methods to conduct laboratory investigations on systems or equipment.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, correspondence, and technical studies.
  • Study and apply currently approved standards, codes, and procedures relevant to the engineering specialty.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations for design and review meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or requested.

Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of telemetry systems, including the ability to comprehend signal flow within these systems. Responsibilities will include:
  • Managing telemetry operations, data transport systems, and network systems while adhering to technical standards.
  • Addressing real-time mission anomalies and troubleshooting emergent issues effectively.
  • Demonstrating familiarity with local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), along with a strong knowledge of the equipment used in data transport.
  • Exhibiting proficiency in structured cabling for data transmission equipment, including fiber optics and twisted pair cables, as well as knowledge of termination techniques.
  • Utilizing equipment such as RF spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and telemetry receivers.
  • Possessing a comprehensive understanding of Silent Sentinel antenna systems, RFoF, TMoIP, and expertise in installing and testing telemetry systems.
  • Collaborating with the drafting department to create engineering drawings, with proficiency in drafting software such as Visio being advantageous.
  • Interpreting and redlining engineering drawings, and utilizing schematics for equipment installation, alteration, and repair.
  • Working independently and as part of a team, making decisions under pressure.
  • Conducting routine preventative maintenance on all equipment according to established procedures and technical manuals.
  • Generating local trouble tickets and utilizing tracking systems to document work performed.
  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders through various channels.
  • Supervising technicians and providing regular status updates.

Qualifications
The candidate must meet the following criteria:
  • Associate's degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent formal training, with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles, along with familiarity in related engineering fields.
  • Practical knowledge of testing methods and practices sufficient to perform routine to complex engineering procedures.
  • A valid state driver's license.
  • Eligibility for and maintenance of a security clearance with special access.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
