JOB OVERVIEW
JT4, LLC is engaged in providing engineering and technical assistance to various western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, commonly referred to as J-Tech II. Our mission is to create and sustain realistic, integrated testing and training environments, preparing our nation's combat aircraft, weapon systems, and aircrews for current operations and future global challenges.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Field Engineer II, you will undertake a range of essential engineering tasks under the guidance of a senior engineer, focusing on the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of electronic systems and equipment. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting research and reviewing technical literature to support senior engineers in acquiring necessary technical data while staying updated on approved standards, codes, and practices relevant to the engineering field.
  • Executing engineering tasks that may vary in complexity and may present some challenges.
  • Planning and implementing successive engineering steps, addressing technical issues through established practices and methodologies, including tolerance studies and design calculations.
  • Supporting projects with limited scope or segments of larger projects, following detailed instructions regarding the intent and scope of required documentation.
  • Generating sections of design specifications for more complex projects or complete specifications for simpler projects.
  • Utilizing computer-assisted testing methods to perform laboratory investigations on systems or equipment.
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports, technical studies, and correspondence.
  • Reviewing and studying currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applicable to the engineering specialty.
  • Preparing and delivering technical presentations for design and review meetings.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
  • Experience with enterprise IT hardware, digital video projection systems, aircraft simulators, or military aircraft instrumentation/avionics.
  • Ability to interpret building blueprints and electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Experience with testing equipment, including Ethernet cable testers, digital multimeters, fiber inspection scopes, and Ethernet/fiber cable analyzers.
  • Proficiency in creating basic documents using Microsoft Office Suite and effective communication within the team using Microsoft Outlook and Teams.
  • Familiarity with the safe and proper use of common hand tools.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Capability to conduct research and apply knowledge to develop new technician policies and procedures.
  • Physical ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds and work in a hands-on environment.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a government security clearance and possess a valid state-issued driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional desirable qualifications include:
  • Experience with Windows Server operating systems.
  • Skills in building and testing shielded Ethernet cables and single/multi-mode fiber lines.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining projection/video systems.
  • Basic computer networking skills with some administrative tasks.
  • Familiarity with Linux command line and desktop interfaces (preferably Red Hat).
  • Knowledge of HOTAS (hands-on throttle and stick) style flight controls.
  • Understanding of KVM consoles/switches and remote management protocols (RDP, SSH, etc.).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants should have an Associate's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent formal academic/vocational/military training, along with a minimum of 7 years of relevant technical/professional experience in the field. A solid understanding of applicable engineering concepts and principles, along with familiarity in related engineering domains, is essential.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
The expected salary range for this position is between $85,000 and $105,000 annually. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, health savings accounts, disability insurance, paid time off, and 401(k) plan options with employer match, among others.
