Position Overview:

The role of the Systems Engineering Specialist is crucial in supporting the Navy's Enterprise Architecture (EA) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) initiatives. This position involves the modeling and analysis of performance for both new and evolving systems and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creation of models, architectural documentation, and digital assets for systems or System of Systems (SoS) in line with established standards and best practices.
  • Utilization of modeling techniques to facilitate requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
  • Preparation of reports to assist in managing MBSE and digital environment activities, aiding in informed decision-making.
  • Promotion of a model-based culture by leveraging the capabilities of the organization's digital enterprise infrastructure.
  • Employing model data to foster the development of a digital thread across various engineering disciplines, including cyber and configuration management.
  • Exhibiting a solid understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering principles and familiarity with Systems Modeling Language (SysML) or Unified Modeling Language (UML).
  • Experience with collaborative MBSE environments or similar tools, such as MagicDraw/Cameo.
  • Knowledge of the Department of Defense Architecture Framework/Unified Architecture Framework (DoDAF/UAF).

Equipment Utilized:

  • Standard Personal Computer (PC) systems and relevant project testing equipment.

Working Environment:

  • Typical office setting; includes access to a computer/equipment laboratory.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
  • Frequent use of a personal computer, keyboard, and mouse.
  • Potential travel, both domestic and international, up to 25% of the time.

Communication Skills:

  • Proficient in standard business software tools (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Strong written communication skills, capable of producing clear and concise technical documentation.

Verbal Communication:

  • Effective communicator, able to present technical information clearly and engage in meaningful discussions.
  • Ability to lead discussions on technical topics.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in systems engineering.

Customer Interaction:

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills for effective collaboration with corporate clients.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, command staff, and peer contractors.

Project Management Skills:

  • Ability to prioritize and manage tasks to maximize productivity.

Work Schedule:

  • 9/80 work schedule with flexibility for non-standard hours as project demands.
  • Long-distance travel may be required.

Travel Requirements:

  • Minimal travel expected, less than 15%.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Information Systems, Information Technology, Operations Research, or related fields requiring advanced mathematical skills.

Compensation:
$90,000.00 to $135,000.00 annually, based on experience.

Citizenship Requirement:
U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

Security Clearance:
Candidates must possess an active security clearance or the ability to obtain one, subject to a U.S. government background investigation.
