Position Overview:
Under general oversight, the Engineering Support Specialist engages in technical work of moderate complexity in both field and office settings, adhering to established engineering methodologies and protocols. This role applies engineering principles across various disciplines including civil, mechanical, electrical, environmental, and transportation engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, and verify standard studies, calculations, designs, and plans for diverse engineering projects utilizing AutoCAD and other relevant software.
  • Conduct field evaluations of existing structures to assess the need for future construction, repairs, or maintenance; perform preliminary field studies and surveys, collecting data essential for design and drafting.
  • Carry out routine inspections of ongoing construction and repair projects to ensure compliance with established plans, specifications, and regulations; document and monitor progress at various job sites.
  • Compile, organize, and maintain engineering data, records, and reports.
  • Draft reports, contract specifications, material lists, cost estimates, schedules, and progress payments.
  • Generate departmental reports detailing field conditions, project progress, study outcomes, and plans for future enhancements.
  • Provide written and verbal responses to inquiries from various stakeholders including agencies, contractors, and the public.
  • May oversee junior engineers, student trainees, and related personnel in a limited capacity.
  • Prepare correspondence, minutes, and reports addressing engineering policies, procedures, standards, and environmental impact considerations.
  • Engage with professional engineering personnel, contractors, and the public regarding engineering-related matters.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as required.
