Position Overview:

The Systems Engineering Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the Navy's Enterprise Architecture (EA) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) initiatives. This position involves the development and analysis of performance models for emerging systems and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop models, architectural documentation, and digital representations for systems and System of Systems (SoS) in line with established standards and best practices.
  • Utilize modeling techniques to assist in the requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation processes throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
  • Generate reports to facilitate the management of MBSE activities and inform decision-making, while coordinating information and resources to achieve digital thread objectives.
  • Promote a model-based culture by leveraging the capabilities of the organization's digital enterprise infrastructure.
  • Employ model data to foster the creation of a digital thread across various engineering disciplines, including cyber and configuration management.
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering principles and familiarity with Systems Modeling Language (SysML) or Unified Modeling Language (UML).
  • Demonstrate experience with collaborative MBSE environments or similar tools (e.g., MagicDraw/Cameo).
  • Possess knowledge of the Department of Defense Architecture Framework/Unified Architecture Framework (DoDAF/UAF).

Equipment Utilized:

  • Personal Computer (PC) systems and project-specific testing equipment.

Working Environment:

  • Standard office setting; Computer/Equipment laboratory.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Frequent use of a personal computer, keyboard, and mouse.
  • Occasional travel, both domestic and international, by automobile or airplane (up to 25% of the time).

Communication Skills:

  • Proficient in standard computer-based business tools (including Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Exhibit excellent written communication skills in a technical format, supporting the development of necessary plans and reports.

Verbal Communication:

  • Engage actively in discussions, presenting technical briefs and demonstrating attentive listening skills.
  • Lead discussions on technical subjects effectively.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.

Customer Interaction:

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills for effective communication with corporate clients.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with customers, command staff, and peer contractors.

Project Management Skills:

  • Capability to manage and prioritize tasks to ensure maximum productivity.

Work Schedule:

  • 9/80 work schedule.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours as required by project needs.
  • Willingness to travel long distances (>500 miles) to various facilities as necessary.

Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 15% travel, with potential long-distance travel (>500 miles) to various facilities.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Information Systems, Information Technology, Operations Research, or related fields that require advanced mathematical skills.

Compensation:
$90,000.00 to $135,000.00 annually, based on experience.

Citizenship Requirement:
U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

Security Clearance:
Candidates must possess an active security clearance or have the ability to obtain one, subject to a U.S. government background investigation. An active security clearance is highly preferred.
