Position Summary
The Field Engineer II will perform a range of essential engineering tasks under the guidance of senior engineers, focusing on the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of electronic systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and reference reading to assist senior engineers in acquiring technical information, while staying updated on approved standards, codes, and procedures relevant to the engineering field.
  • Execute engineering tasks that are varied and may present moderate challenges.
  • Plan and implement successive engineering steps, resolving technical issues using established practices and techniques, including tolerance studies and design calculations.
  • Support projects with limited scope or contribute to more complex projects by following detailed instructions regarding the intent and scope of documentation.
  • Generate sections of design specifications for complex projects or complete specifications for simpler tasks.
  • Utilize computer-assisted testing methods to conduct laboratory investigations on systems or equipment.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, correspondence, and technical studies.
  • Study and apply currently approved standards, codes, and procedures in the engineering specialty.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations for design and review meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Experience with enterprise IT hardware, digital video projection systems, aircraft simulators, or military aircraft instrumentation/avionics.
  • Ability to interpret building blueprints and electrical/mechanical schematics.
  • Experience with test equipment such as Ethernet cable testers, digital multimeters, and fiber inspection scopes.
  • Proficiency in creating documents using Microsoft Office Suite and effective communication through Microsoft Outlook and Teams.
  • Familiarity with the safe and proper use of common hand tools.
  • Capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to conduct research and apply knowledge to develop new technician policies and procedures.
  • Physical capability to lift objects up to 50 pounds and work in a hands-on environment.
  • Eligibility for a government security clearance and possession of a valid state-issued driver's license.

Desired Skills
  • Experience with Windows Server operating systems.
  • Ability to build and test shielded Ethernet cables and fiber lines.
  • Skills in troubleshooting and maintaining projection/video systems.
  • Basic computer networking skills with some administrative tasks.
  • Familiarity with Linux command line and desktop interfaces.
  • Knowledge of HOTAS (hands-on throttle and stick) style flight controls.
  • Experience with KVM consoles/switches and remote management protocols (RDP, SSH, etc.).

Education and Experience
Associate's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent formal academic/vocational/military training, along with a minimum of 7 years of relevant technical/professional experience in the specialty field.

Salary and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $85,000 to $105,000 annually. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, health savings accounts, disability insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan with employer match. JT4 matches 50% up to an 8% contribution with 100% immediate vesting and offers tuition reimbursement.

Working Conditions
This role involves typical office environment work with occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting and computer use, and requires mental alertness for communication and document review. Routine travel to remote work locations may be necessary.
