Position Summary
Key Responsibilities
As a Field Engineer II, you will undertake a range of essential engineering tasks under the guidance of a senior engineer, focusing on the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of electronic systems and equipment. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting research and reference reading to support senior engineers in acquiring technical information while staying updated on approved standards, codes, and procedures relevant to your engineering specialty.
  • Executing engineering tasks that are varied and may present some complexity.
  • Planning and implementing successive engineering steps to resolve technical issues using standard practices and techniques, including tolerance studies and design calculations.
  • Assisting in projects with limited scope or segments of more complex projects, following detailed instructions regarding the intent and scope of documentation.
  • Generating sections of design specifications for more complex projects or complete specifications for less complex projects.
  • Utilizing computer-assisted testing methods to conduct laboratory investigations on equipment or systems.
  • Contributing to the preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies.
  • Reviewing currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applicable to your engineering specialty.
  • Preparing and delivering technical presentations for in-process design and review meetings.
  • Performing all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Experience with enterprise IT hardware, digital video projection systems, aircraft simulators, or military aircraft instrumentation/avionics.
  • The ability to interpret building blueprints and electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Experience using test equipment such as Ethernet cable testers, digital multimeters, fiber inspection scopes, and Ethernet/fiber cable analyzers.
  • Proficiency in creating basic documents using Microsoft Office Suite and effective communication skills using Microsoft Outlook and Teams.
  • Familiarity with the safe and proper use of common hand tools.
  • The capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team environment.
  • The ability to conduct research and apply knowledge to develop new technician policies and procedures.
  • The physical ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds and work in a hands-on environment.
  • Eligibility to qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and possess a valid state-issued driver's license.

Desired Skills
Preferred qualifications include:
  • Experience with Windows Server operating systems.
  • Skills in building and testing shielded Ethernet cables and single/multi-mode fiber lines.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain projection/video systems.
  • Basic computer networking skills along with some administrative tasks.
  • Familiarity with Linux command line and desktop interfaces.
  • Knowledge of HOTAS (hands-on throttle and stick) style flight controls.
  • Experience with KVM consoles/switches and remote management protocols (RDP, SSH, etc.).

Education and Experience
A minimum of an Associate's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent formal academic/vocational/military training, along with at least 7 years of relevant technical/professional experience in the specialty field is required. Candidates must demonstrate professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles, as well as familiarity with related engineering fields.

Salary and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is between $85,000 and $105,000 annually. JT4, LLC offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, health savings accounts, disability insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan with employer match options. Benefits are active on the first day of employment, and the company provides tuition reimbursement.

Working Conditions
This role involves typical office environment conditions with occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting and computer use, and the need for mental alertness. Routine travel to remote work locations may be required.
