JOB OVERVIEW
JT4, LLC is dedicated to providing engineering and technical assistance to various western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, known as J-Tech II. Our mission is to develop and sustain realistic, integrated testing and training environments, preparing our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapon systems, and aircrews for current missions and future global challenges.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will perform a range of essential field engineering tasks under the guidance of a senior engineer, focusing on the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of electronic systems and equipment. Responsibilities include:
  • Conducting research and reviewing technical literature to support senior engineers in acquiring necessary technical information while staying updated on approved standards, codes, and procedures relevant to the engineering field.
  • Executing engineering tasks that are varied and may present some challenges.
  • Planning and implementing successive engineering steps and resolving technical issues using established practices and techniques, including tolerance studies and design calculations.
  • Supporting projects with limited scope or contributing to more complex projects by following detailed instructions regarding the intent and scope of documentation.
  • Generating sections of design specifications for more complex projects or complete specifications for simpler projects.
  • Utilizing computer-assisted testing methods to conduct laboratory investigations on systems or equipment.
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies.
  • Reviewing current standards, codes, and procedures applicable to the engineering specialty.
  • Preparing and delivering technical presentations for design and review meetings.
  • Performing all other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
  • Experience with enterprise IT hardware, digital video projection systems, aircraft simulators, or military aircraft instrumentation/avionics.
  • Ability to interpret building blueprints and electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Experience using testing equipment such as Ethernet cable testers, digital multimeters, fiber inspection scopes, and Ethernet/fiber cable analyzers.
  • Proficiency in creating basic documents using Microsoft Office Suite and effective communication within the team using Microsoft Outlook and Teams.
  • Familiarity with the safe and proper use of common hand tools.
  • Capability to work independently or collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Ability to conduct research and apply knowledge to develop new technician policies and procedures.
  • Physical capability to lift objects up to 50 pounds and work in a hands-on environment.
  • Eligibility to qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and possess a valid state-issued driver's license.

PREFERRED SKILLS
Additional desired qualifications include:
  • Experience with Windows Server operating systems.
  • Ability to build and test shielded Ethernet cables and single/multi-mode fiber lines.
  • Skills in troubleshooting and maintaining projection/video systems.
  • Basic knowledge of computer networking with some administrative tasks.
  • Familiarity with Linux command line and desktop interfaces (preferably Red Hat).
  • Experience with HOTAS (hands-on throttle and stick) style flight controls.
  • Knowledge of KVM consoles/switches and remote management protocols (RDP, SSH, etc.).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A minimum of an Associate's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline, or formal academic/vocational/military training, combined with at least 7 years of relevant technical/professional experience in the specialty field is required. Candidates must demonstrate professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles, as well as familiarity with related engineering fields. Practical knowledge of testing methods and practices is essential for performing routine to complex engineering procedures and preparing or modifying standard test procedures or test equipment work instructions.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
The expected salary range for this position is between $85,000 and $105,000 annually. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, health savings accounts/FSA's, disability insurance, paid time off, and 401(k) plan options with employer match. JT4 matches 50% up to an 8% contribution with 100% immediate vesting and offers tuition reimbursement.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position typically involves work in an office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting, and use of a computer terminal are required, along with regular communication and mental alertness. Routine travel to remote company work locations may be necessary.
