Position Overview
The Technical Sales Specialist for EDM Consumables is tasked with driving profitable sales of Makino's EDM Consumables and generating leads for EDM machine opportunities within the designated territory. This role involves the ongoing cultivation of relationships with current and prospective users of our machine tool products, consumables, and accessories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and nurture strong customer relationships as the primary Sales contact.
  • Conduct sales outreach and collaborate with Makino Sales Engineers to enhance Consumable and Machine Sales.
  • Strategically organize work and planning activities for optimal territory coverage.
  • Schedule interactions with existing and potential customers.
  • Identify opportunities for Makino machines by comprehending customer needs and operations.
  • Provide comprehensive details on sales opportunities to the Manager and maintain records in CRM software.
  • Engage with customers to discuss requirements, specifications, and any outstanding issues.
  • Prepare and issue sales quotes with support from Consumable Support Associates.
  • Monitor overdue shipments and keep customers updated on delivery status.
  • Continuously assess consumable sales efforts against forecasts and territory potential.
  • Contribute insights into the consumable forecasting process to aid in material procurement for the Consumables Operations Group.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with customers and colleagues at all organizational levels.
Required Qualifications
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and capability to travel to customer locations.
  • Technical expertise in EDM Consumable products, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office (experience with SalesLogix and SAP is advantageous).
  • Strong motivation and willingness to develop innovative sales strategies and expand customer base.
  • Collaborative team player, capable of working closely with Makino Machines Sales Engineers and Consumable Operations Groups.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Outstanding communication and customer relationship management skills.
  • Readiness for regular regional travel.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in EDM Consumable sales.
  • Prior experience with EDM machine tools or EDM Consumables is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in developing sales territories and a proven ability to close sales is essential.
