The Role


As QuidelOrtho continues to expand, we are looking for a Technical Training Specialist for Field Engineers to become a vital part of our Technical Training team.

The Technical Training Specialist (TTS) will be accountable for providing technical and skills training to QuidelOrtho Field Engineers, internal stakeholders, and Biomedical Engineers.

The TTS will conduct technical training sessions for highly regulated medical devices that necessitate field-based repairs. Training delivery will encompass both instructor-led and virtual training methodologies.

The TTS will educate participants on device theory, troubleshooting, e-Connectivity, disassembly, adjustment, repair, maintenance, device installation, servicing techniques, and the importance of accurate and compliant documentation.

This position will report to the Associate Director of Customer Enablement & Training.


The Responsibilities


Deliver exceptional instrumentation training to Field Service Engineers or customer biomedical engineers in a highly regulated setting, focusing on the safe and effective troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of QuidelOrtho products.

Additionally, the TTS will facilitate training for internal stakeholders, including sales, technical support, and other QuidelOrtho personnel as required.

Manage classroom inventories and supplies to ensure the effective delivery of training programs in a cost-efficient manner.

Enhance training outcomes by providing coaching, conducting Train-the-Trainer programs, and engaging in follow-up activities with fellow trainers to improve organizational effectiveness.

Assist in the creation of training content for new and existing products, including continuing education materials, utilizing the latest technologies for delivery.

Oversee the maintenance, repair, and modification of training equipment, including technical audio and video tools used for virtual training.

Participate in cross-functional teams and projects, contributing to product development, service publications, written and online training documentation, and continuous learning initiatives.

Establish and maintain strong working relationships with sales and service management across all levels.

Engage in ride-along activities with Field Engineers to identify and promote best practices and stay updated on QuidelOrtho products. May also accompany new Field Engineers for coaching or performance evaluation.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


The Individual Required:
Education:
Minimum of an Associate's degree (Electrical, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience of 2 years.
Experience:
3+ years of experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex devices.

Technical training experience is essential.

Familiarity with innovative training delivery methods to effectively reach a global audience.

Proficient in delivering technical training programs using various educational modalities, including web-based, online, and classroom formats.

Experience with video-based training delivery and equipment is preferred.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills are necessary.

Must be autonomous and well-organized.


Travel:
Willingness to travel up to 30% domestically and/or internationally.

Preferred:
Experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining QuidelOrtho devices.
Instructor certification on QuidelOrtho devices is a plus.

The Key Working Relationships


Regular interaction with various departments across the company, including sales, customer service, technical service, product management, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs.

Key relationships with global QuidelOrtho Field Service and Technical Solutions Center teams, Worldwide Service Engineering, and other internal organizations requiring technical training.


The Work Environment


The work environment is representative of an office setting. The role requires the ability to set up and manage classroom environments, which may involve bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods.

Travel up to 30% of the time is expected, which includes carrying luggage and training materials, navigating airports, and potentially driving to various locations.

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and may require standing for prolonged periods.


Salary Transparency


The salary range for this position considers various factors, including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and candidate abilities, alongside internal equity and market alignment.

At QuidelOrtho, it is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range for their role, as compensation decisions depend on the specific circumstances of each case.

The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $120,000 and is eligible for bonuses.

QuidelOrtho provides a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick leave), and paid holidays.
