Position Overview:
Snohomish County's Finance Department is in search of a seasoned Senior Financial Systems Analyst to become a vital member of the Finance Budget and Systems team. This role is integral to the implementation of a comprehensive county-wide financial system.

Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Enhancing and refining existing financial system software.
  • Developing and adjusting budget system processes to facilitate the County's budget development.
  • Creating and programming budget system reports and processes while ensuring thorough documentation.
  • Maintaining and upgrading County Budget development database applications, ensuring they are built on sound relational database design principles.
  • Analyzing user and database activity during the budget process to mitigate application issues.
  • Staying updated with database and information technology trends to implement innovative solutions.
  • Providing training and support to personnel on the budget system.
  • Conducting and coordinating various budget-related special studies.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science is required, with preferred IT certifications in multiple related specialties. Candidates should possess a minimum of five (5) years of relevant systems experience or a combination of training and experience that demonstrates the necessary knowledge and abilities. Previous experience with financial systems in a governmental context is preferred.

Candidates should have a solid understanding of:

  • Budgeting principles and financial management as applied to public entities.
  • Database development tools and best practices.
  • Detailed systems analysis methodologies.
  • Capital and operating budget procedures.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Utilize technology effectively to perform assigned tasks.
  • Analyze and resolve issues related to systems development.
  • Communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively.
  • Work independently and manage time efficiently under pressure.
