The Lead Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting various finance and accounting operations, as well as conducting high-level financial analysis. This includes managing payroll administration, preparing financial reports, monitoring grant funds and subrecipients, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, executing general ledger entries, and implementing compliance controls in accordance with GAAP.

  1. Manage payroll processes, including the oversight of timesheet submissions, maintenance of benefit accruals, tax form information, and ensuring timely payroll for employees, along with preparing annual W-2 forms.
  2. Reconcile payroll and payroll liability accounts, collaborating with Human Resources to resolve any discrepancies.
  3. Input data into the payroll system, ensuring accuracy and completeness of hours worked, allocations, wages, benefits, address changes, and other pertinent information.
  4. Review quarterly and annual tax filings to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  5. Facilitate accounts payable processes by verifying federal ID numbers, reviewing purchase orders, obtaining necessary approvals, and resolving any discrepancies.
  6. Oversee and complete balance sheet reconciliations.

Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and processes to maximize efficiency and maintain integrity within the accounting system.

Audit journal entries and supporting documentation to verify accuracy, appropriateness, proper account coding, and compliance with federal and state regulations.

Manage state and federal tax deposits on a monthly, quarterly, or as-needed basis.

Review grant contracts and agreements, ensuring completeness and accuracy while meeting all reporting requirements. Regularly monitor grants, subcontracts, subawards, and obligations.

Assist in monitoring subrecipients to ensure compliance with federal fiscal and grant guidelines.

Support the data gathering process for annual financial audits, state monitoring, and 990 returns.

Maintain and organize all financial records in accordance with the file management system.

Continuously seek to enhance the automation of accounting and reporting processes, redesigning key procedures as necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Strong critical thinking skills are essential.

Demonstrated proficiency in accounting principles.

Ability to train others in accounting best practices.

Capable of troubleshooting various accounting issues and discrepancies.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong customer service abilities.

Advanced analytical and Excel skills.

Effective time management and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software, including MIP or other complex accounting tools.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.

A minimum of 5 years of comprehensive accounting experience is required.

Experience in non-profit or government accounting is highly preferred.

Familiarity with Uniform Guidance 2CFR200 is a plus.

Experience with MIP Fund Accounting, Paycom payroll, and/or SAP Concur software is advantageous.

Work Environment

Work is typically performed in an office setting, primarily at a computer desk. Workdays and hours may vary based on operational needs, requiring flexibility for early arrivals, late departures, extended hours, and occasional weekend or holiday work.

Physical Demands

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer are expected.

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

Travel Requirements

Travel is primarily local during business hours, with some potential for out-of-area and overnight travel.
