Position Overview:

The Financial Systems Functional Analyst plays a crucial role in enhancing and refining automated financial processes, including accounting, procurement, and inventory management systems. This position requires a deep understanding of user needs and operational requirements, as well as providing support to users in navigating systems and resolving issues. You will assess system performance and propose enhancements to ensure optimal functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Finance and Administration department in the selection and deployment of new ERP systems, ensuring that accounting, procurement, and grants management needs are met.
  • Oversee the administration and programming of financial systems, collaborating with IT and vendors to troubleshoot and rectify system issues.
  • Plan and execute major installations and upgrades for financial and procurement systems, establishing criteria for design, budget, and quality standards.
  • Create complex financial queries and reports, utilizing SQL and other tools to analyze data for special projects.
  • Investigate and resolve system errors, implementing process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Update systems to comply with changes in accounting standards and regulations, ensuring procedural adaptations are made as necessary.
  • Provide mentorship to staff on the effective use of financial systems, assisting in problem resolution and developing training materials.
  • Facilitate data integration between various financial systems and collaborate with other departments to optimize system functionality.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of five years in a finance systems role, focusing on data management and systems analysis.
  • Experience in system analysis and engineering within a finance department, including report design and user support.
  • Two years of experience in process analysis or project management.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of finance, accounting, grants, and procurement systems.
  • Proficiency in relational databases and financial data tracking.
  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and internal controls.
  • Ability to foster an inclusive workplace and inspire team collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong writing skills for documentation and training materials.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with ERP system selection and implementation, particularly in finance and procurement.
  • Involvement in writing RFPs and collaborating with procurement teams.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft Financials and Trapeze software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support decision-making in systems design.

Working Environment:

This position offers a hybrid work model, combining on-site and remote work. The role is primarily office-based, requiring the use of standard office technology and equipment.
