Role Overview

This position plays a crucial role in hospital operations, focusing on bed management, patient flow, and capacity oversight. The Patient Flow Operations Coordinator maintains a comprehensive perspective on patient movement within the healthcare system and collaborates closely with nursing staff and physicians to facilitate timely and coordinated patient transitions. This role serves as a bridge between the Patient Flow team and other departments, working to eliminate obstacles to patient movement while optimizing bed usage.

  • Manage the daily operations of the Patient Flow team, ensuring exceptional service and fostering relationships with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Evaluate real-time capacity and throughput data, identify challenges to timely patient placement, and collaborate with department leaders to address patient flow issues.
  • Oversee patient flow activities across Spectrum Health facilities, ensuring effective resource utilization. Develop and implement strategies to enhance system capacity management and throughput.
  • Act as a point of escalation for Patient Flow functions, providing support and guidance to team members.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience in a hospital environment, including inpatient adult and pediatric care, acute care, or critical care.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC required within 90 days.

Work Schedule

Full-time position with day shifts, typically requiring 36 hours per week.
