Position Overview

Leidos Defense Systems is in search of a skilled Security Operations Support Officer to contribute to a multifaceted team dedicated to developing innovative solutions for intricate challenges. Our organization operates nationwide, engaging in defense, aerospace, cyber security, and commercial sectors, providing efficient and cost-effective engineering, scientific, and IT services.

The appointed candidate will report directly to the Facility Security Officer (FSO) and will play a vital role in executing and overseeing the Department of Defense (DoD) Industrial Security Program at the local level. As the AFSO, you will assist the FSO in coordinating and supervising sensitive elements of the DoD Industrial Security Program while ensuring adherence to government and corporate security regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily security operations, including personnel processing, program assessments, document control, audits, violation investigations, and record-keeping.
  • Safeguard and oversee classified information and equipment, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of security protocols and requirements for the proper classification, access, handling, storage, and disposal of sensitive materials.
  • Handle the transmission, reception, processing, reproduction, and destruction of classified documents.
  • Ensure that all local security compliance documentation is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Maintain current records in relevant security databases.
  • Oversee and manage security training for all cleared personnel, ensuring compliance with mandatory annual training requirements.
  • Conduct security briefings for new employees and ensure completion of all necessary annual briefings.
  • Perform annual security self-assessments and support security vulnerability assessments.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate programs to ensure compliance with federal laws and directives regarding classification management.
  • Provide clear guidance to employees and recommend changes to operational policies as necessary.
  • Maintain a repository for security assessment data relevant to the local facility.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team, demonstrating flexibility and strong organizational skills while analyzing problems and delivering focused solutions.
  • Identify and report security risks to senior management as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with 2-4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • 10+ years of related experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Completion of the DCSA FSO Curriculum with a certificate of completion.
  • Strong familiarity with the National Industrial Security Operating Manual (NISPOM) and other relevant DoD security guidelines.
  • Knowledge of required government forms such as SF-86, SF-312, DD-254, and others.
  • Thorough understanding of security databases, including DISS and NISS.
  • Experience in conducting security briefings, debriefings, and indoctrinations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with the SIMS user interface.
  • Experience in conducting inquiries related to security incidents.
  • Resourceful in problem-solving and leveraging opportunities.
  • Possession of relevant security professional certifications or affiliations.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens with an active Secret clearance and eligibility for a TS/SCI clearance.
