Key Responsibilities
Primary Duties:
Under the guidance of physicians, advanced practice providers, and registered nurses:
- Support patient care and execute administrative tasks.
- Provide instructions to patients as directed by healthcare providers.
- Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration.
- Assist patients as needed or as instructed by nursing staff or physicians.
- Participate in procedures as trained by licensed healthcare professionals.
- Assist with laboratory tasks under the supervision of medical staff.
- Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with established protocols.
- Adhere to medical ethics and standards for healthcare assistants.
- Ensure examination rooms are adequately stocked with necessary supplies.
- May be required to perform duties of front desk personnel as needed.
- Complete any additional tasks assigned by healthcare providers or management.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Educational Background:
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting or Medical Office Management program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- If applicable, maintain BLS certification as required by the practice.
- Must possess either six months of experience as a Medical Assistant or have graduated from an accredited program.
- Within one year of employment, successful completion and retention of CCMA, CMA (AAMA), NCMA certification, or RMA is required.
Skills and Competencies:
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of office practices, including examination and treatment procedures, medical equipment, and safety protocols.
- Exhibit patience, courtesy, and tact in all interactions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and patients.
- Willingness to follow instructions and perform repetitive tasks as needed.
- Proficient in computer skills, including word processing and electronic medical records.
- Conduct patient screenings in accordance with established guidelines.
