Full-time, Exempt

Reports to: Chief People and Culture Officer

JOB OBJECTIVE:

The Head of Human Resources Operations will oversee and direct all HR activities within the organization. This position entails crafting and executing HR strategies, policies, and initiatives that align with the organization's vision and objectives. The Head of HR will work in partnership with executives and senior management to ensure that HR efforts are in sync with the broader business strategy. A robust background in employee relations and HR policy governance is essential for this role. Familiarity with labor laws and union interactions is highly desirable.

This position will report directly to the Chief People & Culture Officer and will lead a dedicated team. It plays a pivotal leadership role in advancing our mission and strategic objectives. Key focus areas include organizational culture, talent acquisition, HR operations, continuous workforce improvement, employee engagement, change management, performance management, training and development, total rewards, inclusion and diversity, and policy formulation and compliance. This is a hands-on position that demands both strategic insight and tactical execution, making a significant impact on the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Strategic HR Planning: Formulates and executes HR strategies that are in harmony with the organization's goals. Identifies current and future HR requirements and proposes solutions to enhance organizational efficiency.
  • Employee Relations: Manages employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary measures, and grievance handling. Cultivates a positive workplace atmosphere and enhances employee engagement and morale.
  • Unions and Collective Bargaining: Offers consultation and insights into contract negotiations. Acts as the HR liaison for labor relations, compensation, benefits, and talent management inquiries related to union involvement, in collaboration with the legal team.
  • Policy Development and Compliance: Develops HR policies and procedures to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory standards. Provides guidance and support to management and staff on HR-related issues.
  • Talent Acquisition and Management: Supervises the recruitment and selection process to attract and retain exceptional talent. Develops workforce planning strategies to meet current and future staffing demands. Oversees employee onboarding, orientation, and training initiatives.
  • Performance Management: Designs and implements performance management frameworks to assess employee productivity and effectiveness. Provides coaching and feedback to managers and employees to facilitate professional growth and achievement of objectives.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Manages the design and administration of compensation and benefits programs. Conducts salary surveys and analyzes compensation trends to ensure competitive remuneration practices.
  • HR Metrics and Reporting: Establishes key HR metrics and analytics to evaluate the success of HR programs and initiatives. Prepares regular reports for senior management on HR metrics, trends, and outcomes.
  • Employee Development: Creates and implements employee development programs to enhance skills and competencies. Identifies training needs and collaborates with managers to formulate training plans.
  • HR Technology and Systems: Assesses and implements HR technology solutions to optimize HR processes and improve efficiency. Manages the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Proven ability to lead and manage an HR team, providing direction, coaching, and mentoring to ensure effective performance.
  • Expertise in managing employee relations issues, including conflict resolution and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance with HR practices.
  • Proficiency in utilizing data and analytics to assess HR metrics such as turnover rates and employee engagement.
  • Ability to effectively manage organizational change, including restructuring and culture transformation.
  • Commitment to ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality with sensitive HR information.
  • Negotiation skills for HR-related agreements and conflict resolution.
  • Familiarity with HR software and systems for managing payroll, performance evaluations, and other HR functions.
  • Capacity to develop long-term HR strategies aligned with organizational goals and adapt to evolving business needs.
  • Awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles to promote a diverse workplace.
  • Knowledge of union regulations and laws.

SALARY RANGE: $150,000-$155,000
