POSITION SUMMARY:

The Retail Operations Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Shop Manager to drive business performance, focusing on maximizing sales, enhancing productivity, and achieving profit objectives. This position is primarily customer-facing, engaging with both customers and team members to ensure an exceptional shopping experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the Shop Manager in reaching sales goals by optimizing profitability and managing operational costs.
  • Exemplify outstanding customer service, ensuring effective management of customer interactions.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the sales floor, actively engaging with customers and staff to promote a high standard of service.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of shop team members to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Demonstrate respect for diversity, adapting management styles to effectively lead a varied team.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, maintaining consistency across all team members.
  • Uphold the brand's image through effective visual merchandising and service standards.
  • Implement loss prevention strategies and manage inventory processes to minimize losses.
  • Stay informed about market trends in the accessory sector and monitor local competitor activities.

FISCAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Assist the Shop Manager in achieving sales targets, key performance indicators, and overall profitability.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

This role requires collaboration with the Director of Retail Operations, Shop Managers, and the entire shop team to ensure cohesive operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a retail environment, with at least 1 year in a managerial capacity.
  • High School diploma or equivalent; a college degree is preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic retail environment, demonstrating adaptability and multitasking skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate and develop team members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred).
  • Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and during shop openings and closings as needed.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Minimal travel may be required based on business needs, with an average of 5% annually for new shop openings and training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position is based in a retail environment, requiring standing and walking for extended periods. Duties may involve lifting items weighing between 5 to 25 lbs regularly, with occasional heavier weights. The role requires the ability to perform essential functions without posing a direct threat to health and safety.
