Stanford CA, United States Stanford University Full time

The potential of human embryonic stem cells to transform regenerative medicine has not yet been fully realized, because it is currently challenging to efficiently differentiate embryonic stem cells into specialized cell-types. To help address this challenge, the Loh Laboratory () at the Institute for Stem Cell Biology & Regenerative Medicine and the Department of Developmental Biology at Stanford University is seeking a Life Science Research Professional 2 to perform more complex functions and activities involved in defined research projects, and independently conduct a portion of the research project(s). The Loh Laboratory exploits knowledge of developmental biology to more accurately guide embryonic stem cell differentiation, as reported in their recent manuscripts in Cell, Cell Stem Cell and Cell Reports.
The Life Science Research Professional 2 will co-lead a project to differentiate human embryonic stem cells, which will entail the culture and differentiation of human embryonic stem cells, quantitative PCR, flow cytometry, immunostaining, as well as transplantation experiments into animal models.
The Life Science Research Professional 2 will operate with significant independence in strategizing the goals of the project as well as designing, conducting and interpreting experiments, under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator. This individual will also be the point of contact for this innately highly collaborative project entailing collaborations with 4 other Stanford laboratories.
Due to the nature of human embryonic stem cell differentiation experiments, flexible hours are required.
