Position Overview: The Loh Laboratory at Stanford University is in search of a Life Science Research Professional 2 to contribute to innovative research in the field of regenerative medicine. This role focuses on the differentiation of human embryonic stem cells into specialized cell types, a crucial area of study that holds great promise for future medical advancements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently conduct significant portions of defined research projects, utilizing advanced techniques in cell culture and differentiation.
- Engage in quantitative PCR, flow cytometry, and immunostaining, as well as perform transplantation experiments using animal models.
- Collaborate with multiple laboratories, acting as a primary contact for this highly cooperative project.
- Design, execute, and interpret experiments with a high degree of autonomy, while receiving mentorship from the Principal Investigator.
- Develop new research protocols when existing literature does not provide adequate guidance.
- Conduct ongoing literature reviews to stay updated on the latest methodologies and research developments.
- Present findings at academic conferences and to colleagues, contributing to the scientific community.
- Oversee laboratory supplies and equipment budgets, ensuring efficient resource management.
- Provide supervision and guidance to staff or students, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
- Maintain laboratory organization, including chemical inventory and safety records.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline along with two years of applicable experience, or a Master's degree in a related field is required. Candidates should possess a comprehensive understanding of scientific principles and demonstrate proficiency in computer applications relevant to research.
Physical Requirements: The role involves various physical activities, including standing, walking, and lifting objects over 40 pounds. Employees may also be required to work in environments where animals are present or where hazardous materials are used.
