Position Summary:

The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing a variety of menu items for different meal services, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as catering for special events.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and document daily temperatures of refrigerators and freezers, as well as meal temperature logs.
  • Review communication boards and emails for updates and changes to meal plans.
  • Access and verify patient dietary orders from the hospital's computer system, noting any changes in diet requirements.
  • Utilize spreadsheets for managing dietary specifications and portion control.
  • Perform dishwashing and sanitation duties as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, including ovens, mixers, and other appliances.
  • Assist in assembling and delivering meal trays to patients and residents.
  • Ensure timely service of meals to residents, adhering to the established meal schedule.
  • Comply with health department regulations regarding food safety and personal hygiene.
  • Support cleaning and resetting dining areas after meal services.
  • Provide training and orientation to new dietary staff as needed.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement activities within the department.
  • Attend departmental meetings and complete required training sessions.
  • Follow proper procedures for preparing cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
Qualifications:
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational training in food service or three years of relevant experience in a similar setting.
