From pediatric to geriatric care, Estes Park Health provides comprehensive services to our friends, neighbors, and visitors throughout the Estes Park Valley and Rocky Mountain National Park.

Currently, our healthcare teams serve over 18,000 patients, residents, and visitors through both outpatient and inpatient services.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing menu items for various meals (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) according to the assigned shift, as well as managing salad bars, catering events, and special meal requests.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and record daily temperatures of refrigerators and freezers, along with meal temperature logs.
- Review communication boards, catering updates, and emails for any changes or important information.
- Access and verify patient diet orders from the computer system, noting the number of patients and any dietary changes.
- Utilize spreadsheets for dietary specifications and portion control.
- Perform dishwashing and sanitization duties as required.

- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment (including refrigerators, freezers, ovens, mixers, and more), as well as the overall kitchen environment.

- Assist in the assembly and delivery of patient/resident meal trays.
- Ensure timely service of meals to residents, adhering to the established meal schedule.
- Comply with County and State Health Department regulations regarding food handling, personal hygiene, and dress code.
- Support fellow staff with cleaning and bussing dining tables after meals as needed.
- Provide training and orientation to new dietary aides upon request.
- Participate in departmental Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives as needed.
- Attend a minimum of 75% of departmental meetings and complete all required training.
- Follow manufacturer instructions for cleaning and sanitizing solutions, or as directed by the Director.
- Perform additional duties as necessary for effective job performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.

- Ability to perform basic math calculations at a high school level and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational training in food service or three (3) years of experience in a food service role, preferably in an institutional setting.

COMPENSATION:
$22.58 per hour

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS:


PRN Differential of $2.50/hr. We offer benefits for PRN employees, including retirement plans tailored to your needs. All employees (Full Time, Part Time, PRN, Seasonal) are enrolled in our Money Purchase Pension Plan, 401a, which serves as an alternative to social security contributions.
